Ferrari has fitted turbochargers to a series production car for the first time since 1987 – meet the critically acclaimed Ferrari California T. This new supercar is beautiful to behold and rides magnificently.
The Ferrari California T has a powerful layout – 53% of its weight is over the rear axle so it doesn’t feel front heavy. The layout and other developments give the California T a sense of dexterity and equilibrium.
The 3.9-litre twin-turbo V8 is completely new, and was in development for four years. It produces 553bhp and 557lb ft of torque in seventh gear. For this model, Ferrari has designed a Variable Boost Management system to gradually grow torque output in each gear in order to give the engine the same non-linear, increasing sense of acceleration as a normally aspirated engine.
The Ferrari California T has a new extraordinary V8 engine with an outstanding gearbox; changing gear is so easy and effortless using the paddle gearshift. There is no obvious turbo lag and the new V8 engine produces an exciting sharp, deep exhaust note.
