It’s been over 10 years since we first started trading back in 2006, so in this blog we look back on the previous decade of Northern Supercar Hire and our first sale, the 2006 Ferrari F360 Spider F1.
The Ferrari 360 is a two-seater sports car manufactured by Ferrari between 1999-2005. It was the successor to the Ferrari F355 and was later replaced by the Ferrari F430 when production stopped.
As a youngster, Ferrari was the dream car of our Director, Billy Jack. Nothing else even came close, so it seemed fitting to have this spectacular specimen of a machine as our first car. This would also play a massive role in the naming of Northern Supercar Hire, incase you hadn’t guessed that already.
The inaugural car of Northern Supercar Hire was always going to be Ferrari, and we knew that the second car was going to be Aston Martin, another favourite of Billy’s.
What was so attractive about the Ferrari? Of course the outstanding, sleek design and finishes, the roar of the engine, but they have a certain aura about them, an essence of soul if you will that other vehicles just don’t quite match.
Billy’s opinion on Ferraris has changed in the last 10 years but only in the sense that he holds them in a higher regard. He said “Ferrari’s get better and better in my opinion. Each time a new model comes out and you think it can’t be improved – it does and they’re also more user friendly and easier to maintain the newer the model.
The older Ferrari’s are gorgeous but for me they’re not a viable option for hiring out as reliability is key to what we do and the older cars wear out consumables such as cambelts and clutches and these are not an issue in the newer cars.”.
Ferrari still plays as big a role, if not bigger than it did 10 years ago in our company, and we can’t wait to see what the future holds for not only us but Ferrari as well.
